LDG has no listing on their site for ANY cables to suit the Z-100A!.This is backing up your statement that the tuner supports other brands.Ĭharles, when you purchased your Z-100A were you asked what cable you wanted or did you end up with two cables? Please note that I have quoted all prices from the DX Engineering web site. IC-115 Interface Cable, Antenna Tuner to Transceiver, For Z-100A Yaesu FTdx-101D, -3000 IC-109 Interface Cable, Antenna Tuner to Transceiver, For Z-100A Yaesu FTdx-10, 1200, FT-950, -450 IC-106 Interface Cable, Antenna Tuner to Transceiver, For Z-100A Kenwood AT-300 Compatible IC-105 Interface Cable, Antenna Tuner to Transceiver, For Z-100A Alinco EDX-2 Compatible IC-104 Interface Cable, Antenna Tuner to Transceiver, Replacement, As Supplied with Z-100A DC Wire Cable The specs of the Z100A seem to be the same as the Z-100 Plus antenna tuner. Given that the Z-100A costs $200 and the Z-100 Plus costs $160, there is no mention of an inbuilt battery on the Z-100A so I presume the extra costs of the Z-100A are because it has the ability to remember your 2000 frequency memory storage. The only advantage that I can see in using the Z-100A is that the radio supplies the power to the tuner. Looking at the DX Engineering site the IC-108 cable has a Y adaptor that uses the 8 pin Yaesu connector to supply power to the Z-100A and a 3 pin 3mm plug to trigger the 891 into tune mode. The cable supplied uses a 4 pin Molex to 6 pin connector. The manual from the website (Z-100A-manual-Preliminary.pdf) also names the device as Z-100A but the front panel photo shows a picture of the NEW IT-100 tuner?Īs you have stated, LDG has supplied the necessary information for you to use the Z100A with your FT-891 (and other FT- series radios?) and the IC-108 cable.Īccording to DX Engineering and LDG, the Z100A comes complete with a ICOM radio interface to suit ICOMS that support AH-3 / AH4 tuners. It would appear that the manual you have been supplied with, is not the same, as the manual available from the LDG official site. Now I did a search for IC-108 on the internet and found that DX Engineering sells that cable. Neither does the manual list any optional interface cables to use with any other brand of radio. Now the Z-100A is listed on the LDG site as a tuner that comes with ICOM interface cable, the manual (as Mike stated) does not list use with any radio other than:Ĭompatible Transceivers The Z-100A is designed to be used with any Icom 100-watt transceiver that supports the AH- 3 or AH-4 Icom antenna tuners. I have been following this thread but could not really add anything to it.
